Pretreatment & Industrial Waste Program

Program Overview

The Town of Windsor's Industrial Waste & Pretreatment Program requires commercial and industrial facilities that discharge pollutants of concern to participate in our pretreatment program. This includes our Fats, Oils, and Grease (FOG) Program, aimed at food service establishments, and our broader Industrial Waste Program. Depending on the types and volumes of wastewater produced, certain industries may be required to have wastewater discharge permits and pretreatment systems. These systems prevent waste from interfering with the wastewater treatment plant at the Water Reclamation Facility. 

Our Environmental Compliance Inspectors conduct periodic unannounced inspections to ensure these businesses comply with pretreatment regulations. Facilities may also be required to monitor their discharge and submit certified reports. All users discharging into Windsor's collection system must meet local, state, and federal standards.
