Beginning the wePhoto A - Changed Condition Signsek of July 6, new 20 mph school speed limit signs will be installed in all designated school zones. This new speed limit applies when children are present, replacing the existing 25 mph school zone speed limit.

The new speed limits will be clearly marked with “Changed Conditions” signs and orange flags when initially posted. The new speed limits will be enforced after a 30-day period from the date the new speed limit is posted.

These updates are being made ahead of the upcoming school year in August to give drivers time to become familiar with the new speed limits. Please watch for the new signs and help keep students, families, and school staff safe.

Changed conditions on Brooks Road South, south of Natalie Drive.

Motorists were using the double yellow island for queuing to turn onto Natalie Drive, causing unsafe conditions. For several months, Windsor Police Department issued numerous warnings. Despite these warnings, drivers continued to use the island for queuing. To stop the moving violations and reduce risk, the Town installed permanent delineators, similar to the one pictured below, along the island during the week of May 25th.

Speed limits were reduced on some Town streets. The new speed zones were clearly marked with “Changed Conditions” signs and orange flags when initially posted, and enforced after a 30-day period from the date the new speed limit was posted.

At the April 15, 2026, Town Council meeting, Council approved an ordinance amending Title IV, Chapter 5, Article 7, “Speed Limits”, of the Code of the Town of Windsor, setting radar-enforceable speed limits for designated Town streets.
