Annual Creek Week and Russian River Watershed Cleanup Day
Every year, volunteers gather along the Russian River on beaches, in canoes, and alongside creeks, to pick up trash. In 2018, 242 volunteers removed over 15,500 pounds of trash, and 51 tires from stream banks in the Russian River Watershed. In 2021, the Town pulled over 20 shopping carts out of the creeks and our volunteers did an incredible job removing trash from Windsor's streets and preventing them from entering our waterways. Thank you to everyone who participated in the Annual Russian River Cleanup in previous years! Contact: stormwater@townofwindsor.ca.gov
Earth Day Trash Cleanup
Every April, the Town of Windsor honors Earth Day by leading groups to pick up trash on Windsor's streets and in the creeks. Volunteer a few hours of your time to improve the water quality and wildlife habitats in Windsor. Special thanks to all who participated at our Earth Day event in previous years! Participants have been known to collect hundreds of gallons of trash in one day. It's also common for participants to find bulky items such as furniture and broken car parts.
