Memorial and Commemorative Programs

Overview

The Town of Windsor offers the following opportunities to honor, commemorate, or memorialize a person:

Commemorative Park Amenity Program

Program Description

Through its Commemorative Park Amenity Program, the Town of Windsor provides opportunities for citizens to recognize and commemorate a person, event, group or organization with the purchase and placement of a tree, bench or other park amenity. Such amenities may include, but are not limited to, covered picnic structures, groves, drinking fountains, water features, permanent concrete chess tables, foot bridges, bike racks, pathways, play structures and picnic tables.

Upon submission of the request form, Town staff will work with the donor to identify costs and park sites for the installation of the requested improvements.

The Town of Windsor will assume the responsibility for maintenance of the donated park improvements only for the duration of the life of the improvement. (Windsor Town Council Resolution No. 2247-08).

Commemorative Tree

Upon receipt of a completed request form, a staff member will contact you to discuss the cost and location of your tree and to answer further questions that you may have.

Commemorative Bench

Upon receipt of a completed request form, a staff member will contact you to discuss the cost and location for your bench and offer assistance with plaque design and collection of payments. The cost of the bench to the donor includes the purchase and installation of both the bench and the plaque. The cost for a 6-foot bench is $3,300, and the cost for an 8-foot bench is $3,500.

Commemorative Park Improvements

Please contact the Parks and Facility Maintenance Office at (707) 838-5399 or by email to discuss Park Improvement opportunities. These improvements are typically larger and more expensive than trees or benches.
